A highly desirable, scarce variation of an antique Victorian Mt. Washington Glass Company salt shaker in the iconic mold-blown "Fig" (or "Beet") pattern.
This specific piece is an absolute standout for collectors due to its rare, non-standard decoration. While most Fig shakers feature basic floral sprays, this example showcases a striking, abstract EXTREMELY RARE "Firework" style Chrysanthemum / Spider Aster motif. The blossoms are hand-painted in thick, heavily textured yellow and white enamel bursts, beautifully framed by soft, ghostly green maidenhair fern fronds. The bold colors pop vividly against the deep rose/cranberry satin glass background.
This is the highly sought-after, early Press-Top version featuring a smooth, unthreaded glass neck silhouette.
Dimensions:
- Approximately 2.75” tall and 2.5" wide at the bulbous base.
Condition Report:
- Glass Body: Excellent condition with vibrant, unfaded background color. The hand-painted enamel and fern detailing remain crisp and highly detailed with minimal historic wear.
- Glass Rim: There is one tiny, single flea bite nick on the inside of the rim (standard for press-top friction wear). This is completely hidden and invisible when the metal lid is in place. No exterior cracks, chips, or bruises.
- Metal Lid: The original pointed, pierced metal cap is present. It has aged beautifully with a gorgeous, dark natural patina. The prongs fit securely onto the glass neck, and the pierce holes are crisp.
Please review all high-resolution photos closely, as they form part of the condition description. This scarce, crossover art glass variant is a fantastic addition to any advanced Mt. Washington, condiment shaker, or Victorian art glass collection.
